DESCRIPTION
Ready for Transmission is a large-scale façade mural commissioned by People's Association for Tampines North Community Club, in October 2025. Led by artists Soph Ong and Chris Chai, with team members Amanda Ong, Charmaine Chen, Fanny Ozda and Sean Dunston, the mural spans two walls measuring 33m x 10.5m and 21m x 10.5m, and was realised with the generous material support of AkzoNobel's Dulux Weathershield paint.
Drawing on the iconic TV test pattern, a familiar sight in the neighbourhood, the mural reimagines this analogue reference through a contemporary lens, tracing a visual journey from structured geometric forms into fluid digital expressions. The work bridges past and present, reflecting the community's evolution and its movement into the future. Bold colour transitions and meticulous detail animate the building's façade, transforming an everyday civic space into a site of community pride and artistic encounter.
Art Outreach served as advisor and project manager for Ready for Transmission, overseeing the full scope of delivery from artist and design proposals to brief development, timeline and budget management, logistics coordination, installation oversight, documentation and submissions to relevant authorities. The engagement reflects Art Outreach's capacity as an arts intermediary to manage complex, community-facing public art commissions — working across artists, civic institutions and corporate partners to bring ambitious works to life in everyday spaces, and demonstrating the organisation's role in expanding access to the arts beyond traditional gallery contexts.
