DESCRIPTION
SPACE is the third presentation by The Pierre Lorinet Collection during Singapore Art Week, held at The Factory, New Bahru. Curated by Edward Mitterrand, the exhibition brings together works from an international roster of artists to explore space, from the vastness of the universe to the intimacy of human connection, within an 8,000 sq. ft. industrial warehouse.
The exhibition presents works that recontextualise elements of nature, humanity and architecture, asking how spatial contexts shape contemporary art and our perceptions of the world. Highlights include Ugo Rondinone's celestial Starnight and prehistoric limestone figure, Liz Deschenes' sky-like void, Tracey Emin's evocative body landscapes, Richard Long's Spiral composed of carefully spaced driftwood, and Louise Bourgeois' nurturing figures. Further works by Theaster Gates, Frank Stella, Danh Vo, Christo, Korakrit Arunanondchai, David Altmejd and others extend the exhibition's dialogue across themes of displacement, materiality and presence — reminding us, as Rondinone observed, that "The sky and space are the greatest themes of art."
Art Outreach served as project manager for SPACE, overseeing operational delivery to realise the presentation at The Factory, New Bahru.
