ROUGH is the second presentation by The Pierre Lorinet Collection during Singapore Art Week, curated by Edward Mitterrand. Bringing together 14 prominent international artists, the exhibition takes its title from the unapologetic and bold nature of the works on display, presenting a raw and unrefined perspective on contemporary art enhanced by the untouched roughness of the exhibition space.

Infused with a broad range of styles and mediums, the artists share a common toughness in either subject or material. Ibrahim Mahama's exploration of political and social themes, Oscar Murillo's treatment of displacement and identity, Rashid Johnson's engagement with collective human experience and Ai Weiwei's politically provocative installations create a dialogue that delves into the complexities of the modern world. Jannis Kounellis and Claudio Parmiggiani push the boundaries of traditional art forms, while Sterling Ruby's dynamic works, Louise Nevelson's burnt wood assemblages, Elad Lassry's enigmatic three-dimensional photographs and Cai Lei's concrete paintings captivate with their enigmatic allure. Rirkrit Tiravanija examines extinction and humankind's destruction of the natural world, Thomas Houseago contributes dark masks, Blair Thurman iconic shaped canvases, and Danh Vo's potteries tell stories of medieval torture scenes.

Art Outreach worked with Edward Mitterrand and The Pierre Lorinet Collection to realise ROUGH, marking the second exhibition presented in partnership during Singapore Art Week. The project reflects Art Outreach's role as a trusted arts intermediary in Singapore, enabling ambitious, collection-led exhibitions to reach local audiences and strengthening its position as a key enabler of significant international artistic practices in the city.
