Launched in early 2023, the ProDev Workshop series is an Art Outreach initiative dedicated to equipping artists, curators and arts workers with practical skills and insights to sustain a career in the arts. Addressing critical gaps not covered by traditional art school curricula in Singapore, the series has quickly become an essential resource for the local arts community.

Each workshop is designed to be hands-on, illuminating and tailored to the realities of contemporary arts practice — drawing on the expertise of practitioners and specialists across a range of disciplines. Sessions are held at Art Outreach's space at Gillman Barracks and are open to mid-career and emerging practitioners.

A recent edition, 'Make Art, Make Space', was led by Dr. Zi Hao Wong — an artist and trained architectural designer with his own design and research practice. The workshop brought participants through the transformation of a body of work across six exhibition sites, demonstrating how each space opens new possibilities for renewing an artwork. Covering spatial awareness, design principles, creative layouts and strategies for managing unconventional spaces, the session gave participants practical tools to design exhibitions that are both compelling and responsive to their environment.

As organiser of the ProDev series, Art Outreach draws directly on its two decades of experience and its extensive network of Singapore-based artists and practitioners to develop relevant, practitioner-led content. The series reflects Art Outreach's commitment to professional development and its role as an arts intermediary that actively strengthens the local art ecosystem — nurturing the next generation of practitioners and addressing the evolving needs of the arts community in Singapore.
