The IMPART Art Prize 2023 marked the sixth and final edition of the prize, awarding artists Kent Chan and Jon Chan, and curator John Tung as the inaugural recipient of the newly renamed Tan Boon Hui Curatorial Prize. The announcement was accompanied by the first-ever IMPART Art Prize Winner's Showcase, a public exhibition of works by Kent Chan and Jon Chan, curated by John Tung.

Kent Chan is an artist, curator and filmmaker based between the Netherlands and Singapore whose porous practice revolves around encounters with art, fiction and cinema, with particular interest in the tropical imaginary and the legacies of modernity. His works are held in the Rijkscollectie and Bonnefanten Museum, and he is the 2021 winner of the Foundwork Artist Prize. Jon Chan is a Singapore-based painter whose practice navigates the divided self and a sense of alienation situated in doubt, taking on local settings and specific sites that house particular disjunctions in contemporary Singaporean life. John Tung is an independent curator and exhibition-maker whose projects span large-scale architectural installations, photography festivals and site-specific experiences, recognised for his close and rigorous work with artists across more than 50 commissions.

The 2023 edition carried added significance as the first deliberation held without former Jury Chair Tan Boon Hui, whose visionary leadership shaped the prize across its six years. In his memory, the curatorial prize was renamed in his honour. Over six editions, the IMPART Art Prize supported 18 awardees and seven Honourable Mentions, sustained entirely through Art Outreach's fundraising efforts, cementing its role as an arts intermediary dedicated to nurturing emerging talent and championing the long-term vitality of Singapore's visual arts ecosystem.
