The IMPART Art Prize 2022 was awarded to curator Berny Tan and artists Lin Huiyi and Zarina Muhammad, in a private ceremony held at ArtScience Museum on 11 February 2022. Each winner received SGD 20,000 to further their practice, made possible by Marina Bay Sands under its Sands Cares community engagement initiative. The jury also acknowledged artist Kent Chan with an Honourable Mention.

Lin Huiyi is a research-based visual artist whose practice draws on backgrounds in economics, public policy and mathematics. Working collaboratively as part of Chow and Lin, her projects including The Poverty Line, spanning 36 economies across six continents, have been recognised internationally and acquired by major institutions. Zarina Muhammad is an artist, educator and researcher whose multidisciplinary practice critically examines oral histories, ethnographic literature and historiographic accounts of Southeast Asia, exploring ecocultural histories, myth-making, water cosmologies and the role of the artist as cultural ventriloquist. Berny Tan is a curator, artist and writer whose interdisciplinary practice explores the tensions between rational and emotional frameworks, developing a curatorial approach grounded in empathy, close collaboration with artists and accessible writing about art-making.

The high calibre of applications received reaffirmed the prize's dual purpose: to offer meaningful financial support and professional exposure to promising practitioners, and to recognise models of excellence that inspire the wider arts community. As organiser of the IMPART Art Prize, Art Outreach continues to champion emerging talent and reinforce its role as an arts intermediary dedicated to nurturing the long-term vitality of Singapore's visual arts landscape.
