Launched in early 2023, the ProDev Workshop series is an Art Outreach initiative dedicated to equipping artists, curators and arts workers with practical skills and insights to sustain a career in the arts. Addressing critical gaps not covered by traditional art school curricula in Singapore, the series has quickly become an essential resource for the local arts community.

Go Pro is the inaugural session of the ProDev series, featuring Ken Tan, Director of Lehmann Maupin Gallery — a contemporary art gallery with locations in New York, London, Hong Kong and Seoul. Drawing on 15 years of experience working with artists across museums and galleries worldwide, Ken shares practical advice on how gallery-artist relationships work, what qualities gallerists look for in the artists they represent, and how to build a strong portfolio that opens meaningful career opportunities.

Ken Tan has produced art and cultural projects across New York, Singapore, Tokyo and Melbourne. His previous roles include Senior Director at Arts House Limited, overseeing the Singapore International Festival of Arts and Singapore Writers Festival; Deputy Director at the Asia Society Museum New York, where he launched the inaugural Asia Society Triennial; and Director of Marc Straus Gallery in New York, where he managed programming for over 30 exhibitions across 20 international artists. The 60-minute presentation is followed by a 30-minute Q&A, giving participants direct access to his expertise and experience.

The ProDev series reflects Art Outreach's commitment to nurturing practitioners beyond the exhibition context — drawing on its extensive network to deliver frank, experience-driven programming that addresses the real challenges of building a sustainable career in the arts.
