About the Artist
Xu Zhongmin
Xu Zhongmin is a Chinese contemporary artist born in 1961 in Sichuan. He graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1987 and soon after became the Chair of the Ba Di Cao Arts Society.
Xu Zhongmin’s artworks are largely inspired by the 1980s and artists of that generation. This led to creating dynamic and kinetic sculptures focusing on the themes of capitalism, political upheaval, wealth discrepancy and global mass media.
His work has been featured in articles of well-known publishers such as artnowMAG, the C-Arts and the Global times. Recent exhibitions include Hybridizations: The Ghost of Painting (2018) at the White Box Art Centre in Beijing, Dream No Small Dream: Celebrating 40 years of Transvangarde (2019) and Present Moment (2019) at the October Gallery in London.
