Solo Exhibition

'see how' is a solo exhibition by Singaporean artist Kiat that explores the ways in which meaning emerges through acts of observation, evolving processes, and invisible forces unfolding. The exhibition comprises a new body of abstract artworks developed through a combination of monotype printing, painting, layering, and other techniques involving repetition and an element of chance.
Rather than beginning with fixed compositions or outcomes in mind, Kiat allows the images freedom to develop through an ongoing exchange between intention, material reactions and accidents. The exhibition is rooted in a dialogue between contemporary art and quantum physics, particularly addressing questions relating to the relationship between an event and the conditions through which it is perceived. These scientific theories referenced as conceptual starting points rather than direct illustrations.
The exhibition involves a collaboration between curator Deborah Lim, quantum physicist Dr. Angelina Frank and the artist Kiat. It is further supported with a soundscape conceptualised by Cherry Chan and exhibition design by a.syadiq.
Through these connected perspectives, 'see how' questions whether an artwork exists as a fixed object or whether its meaning continually changes depending on who observed it, how it is encountered, and the relationships that form around it.
