"Derivatives of Decay "responds to the accelerating embrace of technology during a time of profound cultural erosion. As algorithms and technology permeate daily life, JEKK interrogates their pervasive influence over our shared culture, embodied experiences, and spirituality.

Singapore’s rapid loss of culture echoes throughout the city as tangible sites of heritage and vital community spaces vanish. In response, communities increasingly grow fragmented as culture and memory migrate to the digital realm, adapting to the volatility through the use of digital archives as a means of preservation. JEKK collective attempts to capture familiar traces of fading heritage and physical artefacts, piecing together a digital replica that parallels the wider collective impulse to preserve intangible memory. These derived fragments of memory are immortalised; yet the act of preservation proves futile as gaps in reproductions are illuminated by the artist.Their works serve both as a satirical speculation and a cautionary tale.
