Jason Lim
Summit Alumni
Jason Lim (b. 1966) is a a contemporary artist whose
practice is guided by the elemental forces of nature. Drawing
from earth, water, air, fire, and space, he explores the interplay
between material and spirit through sculpture, ceramics,
performance, and photography. His works often unfold in
durational processes, shaped by repetition, silence, and
transformation. Since 1994, Lim has exhibited internationally
across biennales, museums, and land art contexts. Notable
exhibitions include the 52nd Venice Biennale (Italy), Wolves in
Winter at South London Gallery (UK), the World Ceramics
Biennale (South Korea), Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, JIWA:
Jakarta Biennale (Indonesia), and the Indian Ocean Craft
Triennale (Australia). In 2024, he co-directed PingPong, a live
art residency between Singapore and Vietnam.
Lim has been central to the development of performance and ceramic arts in Singapore. From
2004–2016, he was Artistic Director of Future of Imagination, and in 2021, he directed
Singapore Ceramics Now, the first major survey of contemporary ceramic practices in
Singapore. Across media and continents, his work seeks a space of quiet resonance—where
attention becomes form, and gesture becomes memory.
