Plaza Singapura (Outdoor Atrium)
Artist present from 17–18 Sep for live-drawing of pastel mural and on Sat afternoons for paper-cutting demonstrations
For its ninth edition, Art Encounters travels to the outdoor atrium of Plaza Singapura from 17 September to 24 October 2022, featuring an original, site-specific paper installation and wall mural, alongside rarely-seen drawings and sculptural objects by local artist Ashley Yeo.
In a world driven by technological advancement and instant gratification, Till the Last Blossom speaks to the restorative value of consciously slowing down, and offers a return to the serenity and sublime power of nature.
From meditative pigment on paper drawings and pastel paintings that bloom across the walls, to enchanting paper sculptures and installations of varying scale and dimensionality, the ethereal showcase spotlights Yeo’s extensive craftsmanship and devotion to creating objects of meticulous detail and lightness that evoke moments of quiet contemplation.

About the Artist
Ashley Yeo (b. 1990, Singapore) graduated with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Arts London, Chelsea College of Arts, London, United Kingdom in 2012 and a BA in Fine Arts from the LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore in 2011. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom, and the United States. Yeo was the first Singaporean artist to be shortlisted for the LOEWE Craft Prize, London, UK (2018). Revolving around themes of lightness and slowness, Yeo’s practice is built upon reflections on the accumulations of hedonistic culture and alludes to the soft and fragile. Her paper sculptures explore geometry, precision, and the spiritual power of simple materials. She is currently interested in maintaining a relationship with nature.
