Kimberly Shen (born 1986, Singapore) is a curator, arts practitioner and educator based in Singapore. Her artistic practice is multifaceted in approach, situated at the intersection of text, image and performance, drawn towards embodying pluralism in a mediation of feminine subjectivities. Over the past decade, she has worked with leading and emerging artists, writers and researchers, and has presented her curatorial projects at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore, Objectifs - Centre for Photography and Film, OH! Open House, and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). This includes platforming new major solo projects by local artists Kray Chen, 5 Rehearsals for a Wedding (2018), Susie Wong, Dancing Alone: Don’t Leave Me (2020), and Priyageetha Dia, the earth and her skin (2020).


A recipient of the National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate), Shen graduated with a Master of Research in Art: Theory and Philosophy from Central Saint Martins in London. Her postgraduate research premised on the encyclopaedic and transdisciplinary nature of contemporary art which traverses mediums and disciplines, and rejects traditional frameworks and readings. These ideas are further articulated in ellipsis journal, a London/Singapore print publication which she co-founded and has been distributed at local and international art book fairs. She was a Curator-in-Residence for The Art Incubator (2015), and member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), Singapore Section.


Kimberly Shen is currently the Programme Leader (Fine Art) at Nanyang Academy of the Fine Arts (NAFA), and previously headed the communications portfolio at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore where she developed the Centre’s considerable communications and outreach efforts.
