IMPART Collectors Show 2021 Leap of Faith

The IMPART Collectors’ Show is a marquee event on the Singapore Art Week calendar. The

Show presents an opportunity for selected local and regional collectors to share their passion as well as advocacy for local and regional art and artists, allowing local audiences to enjoy access to key works that are held in private collections. The main aspiration of the Collectors’ Show is to bring together the “market, the makers and the masses”, as it is part of IMPART’s program objective to not only to cultivate and support emerging art talents, but also encourage art collectors and the public to understand, appreciate and support our local visual art communities. The IMPART Collectors’ Show is organised by Art Outreach, a non-profit art education organisation in Singapore.

In the midst of COVID-19, the 4th edition of the IMPART Collectors’ Show will be going online for the first time with a novel format. We will showcase works that would be challenging to transport and present in an exhibition not only because of the logistical challenges these works present, but because the works beg to be shown in the meaningful context of the collectors’ private residences and offices. The exhibition draws together 6 remarkable private collectors from Singapore, Jakarta, Indonesia, India and Switzerland, and selected works of theirs that have rarely been shown in public before due to their personal nature, complexity of installation, or being site-specifically embedded in their homes and places of work.

Titled Leap of Faith, this edition showcases a class of collectors who go above and beyond in their collecting ethos and willingness to acquire works that require not only living with art, but shaping their places of living around art. Hosted on Art Outreach’s website, the exhibition comprises a series of video interviews with each collector, which grant unprecedented access into their homes and offices, where they are surrounded by the art they love, drawing out insights on their collecting journey, including ancedotes of meeting artists and working with them to install their works, and advice for budding young collectors.
