Curriculum

The Art Outreach programme is a free arts appreciation programme for local school students. It is designed to wrap around academic curriculum and expose students to the world of art.

From well known masters to equally legitimate works by more obscure artists, the Art Outreach programme focuses on making students comfortable with talking about art in its various aspects: art history, art aesthetics, art criticism and art movements. The programme has a special emphasis on exposing students to art from around the region, especially to art that is relevant to Singaporeʼs heritage. The content of each lesson is based on a portfolios of artworks. These portfolios are rotated from lesson to le sson, and encompass an unlimited array of art topics, genres and media.

A collaboration with NUS Museum, this portfolio introduces students to the rich and varied work of local artist Ng Eng Teng, best- known as a pioneer local artist of the post-independence era.

Land & Environmental Art

Land & Environmental Art

Going beyond the politics of the environment, these works attempt to take a deeper look into the themes surrounding earth, nature, the universe and Manʼs place within this system.

Students are presented two stories from the Baburnama (The Book of Babur) that showcase the rich detailing that goes into Mughal paintings. The artworks record the first emperorʼs reign, and explore the artistic development of that period.

This portfolio introduces the concept of portraiture and its evolution across time. The concept begins in 1508, with Leonardo Da Vinciʼs Mona Lisa. Its stylistic progression will then be illustrated through the works of artists such as Pablo Picasso and Yousuf Karsh.

Written in collaboration with the Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI), this portfolio is designed as an introduction to printmaking. It examines four of the most prominent printing methods: Lithography, Etching, Woodcut and Screen-printing.
